I am a 33 year old single missionary from the beautiful Kansas City, Missouri. I was raised in a Christian home and taught all of the Sunday school Bible stories from a young age. Despite all of that, I didn’t really get it. I told myself I believed it; that Jesus had to die to save us and that He was the only way to heaven, but in my heart it didn’t make complete sense. Why couldn’t an all powerful God just say we were saved and be done with it… why this strange method of sending His son to die? Was it just a whim He suddenly had? So instead of being truly committed and actually trusting Him, I went through the motions hoping that my heart would catch up eventually, and I would really be convinced.
It wasn’t until I was 18 years old that I finally came face to face with God. Sitting in a Christian college in Hannibal, Missouri, I heard a sermon tying the Old Testament sacrifices to Jesus being the lamb of God, and I got it. The light bulb went on and practically blinded me… of course Jesus had to die. God is just and can’t just declare us righteous, the perfect sacrifice had to be made to pay the penalty for my sins. And only through Jesus paying that penalty and having victory over death could I be saved. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
What’s next, you might ask? Well, for many years now I have known I was called to Europe, and I am beyond excited to say that the Lord is finally sending me! Italy is the first place He put on my heart, and is where I believe I am meant to end up, however, the first stop is going to be Romania. I have been asked by the Long-term staff with Adventures in Missions to work with our long-term ministry partner there Hope Church, doing administration and logistics for incoming mission teams ranging from around 10 days to several months, and whatever else the Lord leads me to do. Hope Church is an amazing local ministry/church that has many ministries through the city of Dragonesti and neighboring villages, all run by local Romanian couples and missionaries. You can read more about them at hoperomania.org.
wherever else He may call me!
